32 | Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, lose or pointed parts. During today’s inspection Director was reminded about keeping the play yard equipment free of spider webs. LPA observed a spider in between the plastic apparatus and several spider webs. Director cleaned the apparatus during the visit. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Availability of outdoor drinking water was observed via a water fountain. There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection.
Children’s Records were reviewed for completeness; Inspection of required forms was made. LPA issued the Children’s Record Review (LIC 811) to the Director during this inspection. In review of children’s records, files contain information including, but not limited to the following: Name, address and telephone number of the child's authorized representative and of relatives or others who can assume responsibility for the child if the authorized representative cannot be reached when necessary.
Staff files were reviewed for completion of immunization's, MMR, TDAP & Influenza, along with the completion of the Mandated Reporter training.
Children's roster was reviewed and is current. Sign-In and Sign-Out sheets were reviewed. Children present were signed in. Disaster drill log was available, last drill was conducted in March of 2019.
Menus are posted one week in advance where it is visible by the child's authorized representative. Snacks were reviewed for availability, quantity and appropriateness to children in care.
First Aid supplies were observed in the classrooms. Per Director the medication is stored in a locked box in the kitchen. In review of stored medication, LPA observed that there was expired medication from May 2018 (Ventolin Inhaler) stored for Child# 1. In the medicine box, (Pictures were taken). Director was asked to contact parent on the phone, she was able to reach parent and requested a new inhaler be brought into the center. Records indicate that the child had been administered the inhaler on previous dates of 09/13/18 and 09/18/18, past the expiration date. This poses an immediate risk to the health and safety of the children in care.
