Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Mahnaz (Nancy) Malek conducted an onsite inspection for the purpose of an Annual inspection. LPA met with director, Lilamani Kalugampitiya. LPA toured the facility inside and outside. The floor and yard plan (LIC 999) were checked. LPA took census, there were a total of 5 infants in infant room. One infant was sleeping in the crib in the napping area with one staff wearing sleeveless sleeping sack. Nothing else was in the crib. There were four infants playing on the floor in the activity area with another staff. There is only one infant room. During the inspection it was determined the facility is operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staffing ratios. Facility hours are 7:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
During the inspection of the indoor activity space, items which could pose a danger to children (cleaning compounds, and medications) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Poisons/Hazardous Items are not kept on the premises. LPA observed few food items brought from home in the refrigerator for children are not labeled with the child's name and current date. Food is properly stored. Floors, equipment, and furniture were clean and were observed to be in good repair and free of sharp edges. Children nap on the cribs, and bedding is stored individually and washed on a daily basis or as needed by the facility. The facility has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months, last drill was in 11/16/2023. The facility has a working carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher. Facility met all posting requirement. There was a diaper changing table in the napping room in the infant room which was not equipped with a sink within the arm's reach. The sink is build in the activity area. This has been cited and will be corrected. Continue to page 2
