LPAs Blesi and Gallo arrived at the facility to close the above complaint that was opened on 9/29/22. LPAs met with owner/director, Susan Piette. A census was taken which included 17 preschool children supervised by two staff. A complaint was alleged that staff handled a child in a rough manner. During the investigation, interviews were conducted with children and staff. No video footage was captured. LPA learned children were transitioning from outside play to the classroom and child # 1 was not ready to go inside. As staff #1 was leading the child inside, the child became upset and started yelling and crying then began to drag their feet and fell to the ground. Staff #1 held the child up, under the arms, to help them back on their feet and guided them inside the classroom. Staff interviewed stated staff #1 did not handle the child in a rough manner. Child #1 did not disclose any rough handling during interviews. Based on the information obtained, including the child’s own account of the incident, there was not a preponderance of evidence to support the above allegation. The allegation was found to be unsubstantiated, which means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the allegation occurred.
