25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jeremey McClain met with Program Administrator Andrea Brand for an unannounced annual random inspection. 17 preschool age children were present during today’s inspection and were supervised by two teachers. The facility’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, but also operates extended hours until 2:00 PM.
LPA toured all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. No children in care require medications at the moment. No poisons were observed on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under climbing equipment are cushioned with bark to absorb the fall. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. Trash cans with solid waste have tight-fitting covers. Parents provide snacks and lunch for children. The facility has a refrigerator for storage. LPA observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet.
Staff and children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card and a medical assessment. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification which expires:09/2020. All staff currently employed with the facility have: a criminal record clearance, a health screening report, AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training, and documentation of their educational background, training, and/or experience. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226.
