25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jeremey McClain met with Program Administrator Jestine Attaran for an unannounced annual random inspection. Seven children were present during today’s inspection, who were supervised by two teachers. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. There are also days when pick up is extended to 2:00 PM.
LPA toured all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. Medications are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. No poisons were observed on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under climbing equipment are cushioned with bark to absorb the fall. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers. Children provide their snacks and lunches. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet.
Staff and children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card and a medical assessment. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification which expires:07/2020. All staff currently employed with the facility have: a criminal record clearance, a health screening report, AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training, and documentation of their educational background, training, and/or experience. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.
