Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Blake Morillas conducted a site inspection for the purpose of a Prelicensing visit. LPA met with Joanna Howes, the Director of the facility The facility is requesting a Preschool license for 30 Preschool age children.

LPA observed that the facility has the following documents posted on the parent’s board: Parents Rights, Personal Rights, Car Seat Law, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Earthquake Checklist.

INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
The space consists of three classrooms, community area, and 2 bathrooms, 1 for staff and ill children use. There are a total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks for children use. The classrooms are equipped with child size furnishings. There are individual cubbies for storing children's personal belongings. The parents will be responsible for supplying snacks and lunches with the facility providing a back up snack as needed. Medications will be kept in a locked box by the inner gate to the facility.

Facility will also use cups and personal bottles for water. Facility has first aid kits. All hazardous materials such as cleaning solutions are inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water at the facility. The fire clearance has been received and approved. The classrooms contain a total measurement of 1,116 square feet which is enough to accommodate the requested capacity of 30 Preschool age children.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
The outdoor play area is fenced. There is sufficient resilient material on the ground. There is shaded area available outside. The outdoor activity space was measured. Measurements for outdoor area was 3,102 square feet which does accommodate the requested capacity of 30 Preschool age children. The facility will utilize water bottles for children when outside.

Incidental Medical Services was discussed – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA provided and discussed the Lead Testing brochure (AB 2370).

Pending final review of the application, LPA will approve a capacity of 30 Preschool age children



LPA provided the Licensing Agency website (www.ccld.ca.gov), so the Director may obtain updated licensing information, regulations, and forms.

LPA reviewed the report with the Director and an exit interview was conducted.
