25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Corral conducted a required Annual Inspection on today’s date. Upon entrance to the Facility, there were 26 preschool children present in care with 3 teachers and 3 assistants providing care and supervision. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on indicates all facility staff who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100 minimum per day and up to $500 maximum per day per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A tour of the inside and outside of the facility was conducted with Director Kimberly Byers. Classrooms were observed to be equipped with age appropriate furniture and equipment was found to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed edges. Items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were stored out of the reach of children. Director stated Poisons/Hazardous items are not kept on the premises. Food preparation area was clean, food was stored appropriately and protected from contamination. All storage containers for solid waste were on and in good repair. Director was informed uncontaminated drinking water shall be readily available both indoors and outdoors. There is drinking water available to children indoors by cups and a water dispenser. Menus are posted where they can be reviewed by parents. The children's bathrooms, toilets and hand washing sinks were observed to be clean, sanitary and in good repair. The facility has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months and keeps documentation of drills. The facility has one working smoke detector, one working carbon monoxide detector and one functioning fire extinguisher. Facility meets all posting requirements. Director understands the Child Care Center shall be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of children, employees and visitors.
