25 | On March 15, 2023 at 08:30AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Alaina Wilburn conducted a Case Management visit in response to information from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW). LPA met with Director Roxanne Walker who was informed of the reason for the visit.
Assembly Bill 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking and cooking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first lead testing. LPA observed on the report provided by the SWRCB the SINK IN THE PRESCHOOL "C" CLASSROOM identified as having high levels of lead.
The faucet is located in the school, "C" Duckling Room. The Director told LPA that the faucet was immediately turned off and placed out of service. Interviews with staff and children revealed.....the old sink was being used after the testing date on November 17, 2022, up until the test results were received on December 23, 2022. The old sink was last used on December 23, 2022, because that was the date the results returned with the high lead levels. Facility continued to use sink during the wait period, because the building is newer and Director did not think there would be an issue.
See LIC 809D for cited deficiency in accordance with the California Code of Regulation Title 22, Division 12 written directives.
An exit interview was conducted with Director Roxanne Walker. A copy of this report, appeal rights and a Notice of Site visit was issued. |
