Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Karyn Guerra and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Keven Peters met with Director Holly Olson and Assistant Director Diane Puleo for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Census consisted of 30 children supervised by 6 staff members. Hours of operation for the facility are 6:30AM-6:00PM, Monday thru Friday.

LPA toured the facility including classrooms, restrooms, food service areas, and outdoor play areas. LPA observed the following documents are posted: License, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, and daily schedule. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Currently, no children in care require medications. Director stated there are no poisons on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. Bins for solid waste have tight fitting lids. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter, and all food was protected against contamination. Program provides morning and afternoon snack. Lunch is provided by parents.

There are functional water fountains indoors and outdoors. LPA observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. There is adequate cushioning beneath the climbing structure in the outdoor play area to absorb a fall. There is a sufficient amount of outdoor shade.

Staff and children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card and a health history. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (exp. 10/2019). All staff currently employed with the facility have a criminal record clearance, health screening report, immunization records, and documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience. AB 1207 Mandated reporter training was discussed. Pool on the premises is fenced appropriately according to title 22 regulations. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. LPA reviewed the Department's inspection authority and discussed with Director any changes that may occur regarding the director or an employee acting in the director's absence must be reported to department within ten working days.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.

LPAs verified the annual fees are current. LPA provided the Child Care Advocates Program email address: childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov, so Executive Director and Operations Manager can request to be added to the distribution list to receive Quarterly Updates. LPA provided and discussed Effects of Lead Exposure brochure.

This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with Director. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and should remain posted for a period of 30 days for parental review. Director was encouraged to the visit the Department's website at WWW.CDSS.CA.GOV for information regarding child care updates, forms, regulations and legislation pertaining child care centers. An exit interview was conducted.

In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed at the time of the inspection.
