25 | On March 9, 2023 at approximately 8:50 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Josiah Gathing met with Director Kayla Gargalikis for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. LPA observed care and supervision of 22 preschool children by three fully qualified teachers. The facility has a maximum capacity of 70. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
LPA toured the four-year, three-year, two-year and toddler classrooms. The facility has a toddler license but has not yet enrolled any toddlers. LPA also toured the children’s restrooms, office, kitchen, and outdoor play areas. Director stated there are no firearms on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts and the ground below the play structure is sufficiently padded with wood chips. Restrooms are in sanitary condition with functioning toilets. The floors were clean throughout the facility. Medications are stored in a locked cabinet in the office.
LPA observed that solid waste containers were not covered in the preschool classrooms, and the day’s food waste was exposed. Per Director, the facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily prepared on-site. The facility has signs posted stating that this is a nut-free center. Menus were posted, and refrigerated items were labeled. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. The facility uses an electronic sign in and out application at the front entrance.
All present staff files were reviewed and found to be complete. LPA observed current Mandated Reporter certificates for each teacher. LPA observed current CPR and First Aid certificate for the Director which will expire June of 2023.
