25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Pitts met with Director Sandra Anderson for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Upon arrival LPA observed 12 preschool children being supervised by 2 staff in the 2's and 3's class, and 11 preschool children being supervised by 1 staff in the 4's and 5's class. All staff currently at the facility have criminal record clearances. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
LPA toured all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. LPA reviewed storage of medication and checked the expiration dates, Director stated there are no poisons on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under climbing equipment are cushioned with bark to absorb the fall. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. LPA observed sufficient napping equipment. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter. All food was protected against contamination. Trash cans containing solid waste did not have lids. Program provides milk and snack and parents provide lunch. Menus were posted and drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Facility utilizes a classroom roster for manual sign in and out. LPA reminded Director that 100% supervision is required at all times, including in the bathroom. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed a functional smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
