25 | At 08:05 AM on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra met with Site Supervisors Carlene Ranzieri and Yolanda Padilla for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Program operates in the Parkway Elementary School grounds in the modular classrooms # 1 and # 2. Program is a wrap program Head Start District and State. Program operates M-Th from 08:00 AM to 02:30 PM and Friday from 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
At 08:15 AM Site Supervisors guided LPA on a tour of the facility, at which time a total census of 19 preschool children supervised by 4 staff was observed. A health and safety inspection was conducted in the classrooms, restrooms, food service areas, and outdoor play areas. LPA observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menus, and daily schedule. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Site supervisors stated that no children that required medication are currently enrolled. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. Program provides Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.Water is readily available for children indoors and outdoors.
LPA observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. LPA observed wood chip cushioning beneath the play structures. LPA advised that wood chips should be moved to cushion beneath the play equipment. Outdoor shade was provided by trees. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed a functioning carbon monoxide detector and a fire extinguisher in each classroom.
