25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kelly Ferrara and Mai Lor met with the Director Joyce Campbell for the purpose of an unannounced random annual inspection. LPAs toured each of the classrooms in the facility including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, and outdoor play areas. Appropriate ratio and care and supervision were observed during today's inspection. Census included two school age children being supervised by one staff before leaving for elementary school. Each staff has a criminal record clearance and are associated to the license. The Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:15 AM- 6 PM and the school age program operates before and after elementary school hours.
Classrooms all appeared clean including the carpets and floor. Playground equipment and surfaces are in good condition and are free of loose or sharp parts and there was adequate shade. Uncontaminated drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Bathrooms were clean and all sinks and toilets were in operating condition. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises and LPAs observed functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPAs observed posted menus and there was ample food supply for snacks and lunches. All required licensing documentation was posted for parental review and LPAs advised the Director to move all waivers to a more visible location. LPAs observed an electronic tablet where parents are signing their children in and out of the center. LPAs observed that all cleaning supplies were stored inaccessible to children, however LPAs advised the Director to move them to a higher location.
A sample of children and staff files were reviewed. Each child's file contained the required licensing documentation. Each staff had completed the Mandated Reporter training and LPAs advised that this training must be conducted every two years. At least one staff has a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification that expires in June 2021. LPAs observed a current children's roster and fire drill log with the last drill conducted in August 2019.
