32 | LPA observed a changing table within arm's reach of a sink; staff stated that they disinfect the changing mat after each use. There appears to be adequate toys and equipment available for children. LPA toured the outdoor play area, and the play structure for the toddlers appeared to be in good repair. LPA observed sufficient cushioning under the play structure to prevent injury.
LPA reviewed the sign in/out documents and observed that the children who were currently in-care were properly signed in. LPA reviewed children’s and staff files. LPA observed Health Screening Reports with TB test and required MMR and TDAP vaccines for staff members. LPA verified that at least 1 staff member present today had a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid training (exp. 01/04/2024). LPA observed current Mandated Reporter training for staff. D1 was reminded to renew the course every 2 years. This training requirement may be met by using the Department’s Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) online training modules. The OCAP modules are free of cost and available at: http://www.mandatedreporterca.com/. The training is currently provided in English and Spanish.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed with D1. For IMS information, see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm.
D1 was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, PRIOR to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
