Licensing Program Analyst Michelle Pascual met with Site Director Patricia Bernardi and Executive Director Kourtney Hobart for the purpose of an annual random visit. LPA toured the building including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service and outdoor play areas. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. LPA toured the preschool age children in classroom #2, which are enrolled in the Sunrise Recreation and Park District under the exempt program. Facility hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. School age children arrive at 7:00 AM and leave for school at 8:30 AM, children return on Mondays at 1:41 and Tuesday through Friday at 2:45 PM and can stay until 6:00 PM. TK arrival is at noon. Afternoon snacks are provided. During the all day program, usually during the summer, morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Upon arrival there were no children in care. At noon, four (4 ) TK children arrived.

Medications, toxic and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Storage area for poisons is locked. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under climbing equipment are cushioned with adequate bark to absorb any falls. LPAs toured all restrooms in classrooms which are located in classroom #1. The food preparation space is free of litter. All food was protected against contamination. Uncontaminated drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors.

Fountains located in the large school ground and in the smaller kinder playground, which is used for the children. LPA reviewed the sign/in-sign/out sheet as required for school age component, which is located on an online app/tablet. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed and is not being provided. Only dietary restrictions are currently requested for some children. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. Facility is awsre that when any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes the IMS must be submitted to the Department.

Staff and children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. CPR expiration:05/2024. All staff currently employed with the facility has a criminal record clearance, and documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience. LPA reminded director that 100% supervision is required at all times including in the bathroom. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises, and the facility has at least one functioning carbon monoxide detector. Facility does fire drills once a month with the elementary school. LPA reviewed the Departments inspection authority and discussed with designee any changes that may occur regarding the director or an employee acting in the director's absence must be reported to department within 10 working days.

This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with the licensee. A notice of site visit was provided and should remain posted for a period of 30 days for parental review. Director was encouraged to the visit the departments website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for information regarding child care updates, forms, regulations and legislation pertaining child care centers.

There are no Title 22 deficiencies being cited today.



An exit interview was conducted and a Notice of Site Visit was printed and will be posted for 30 days.
