25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Tanya Washington and Charlotte Baney met with Lead Teacher Yvonne McManus for the purpose of an unannounced case management inspection, Director Martinez arrived to the facility during the LPAs inspection. LPAs observed 8 children in care supervised by three staff. LPAs were informed that 40 children were on a field trip to a pumpkin patch with 5 staff and each child's parent is volunteering on the field trip. Licensee requested to add a toddler option for a total of 16 toddlers with the total capacity remaining the same. Prior to today's inspection, a fire clearance was granted on 10/23/2019 by Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Measurements were not taken as the capacity will remain the same. Licensee is designating Classroom #2 for the toddler option. LPAs inspected the classroom and observed cubbies to store children's personal belongings, age appropriate toys and equipment. Director stated that they are in the process of ordering napping cots. There are two changing tables in the classroom; there is a portable sink located next to one of the changing tables and a sink located directly across from the other changing table; there is also a third child size sink for hand washing. Facility will have paper cups and a jug of water available inside for drinking water; there is a water fountain outside for children's use. Director understands that older toddlers can not be commingled with the preschool children in the bathroom, when in use Director will ensure exclusive use for both age groups. Licensee submitted the required forms and a Needs and Services plan is located in the administrative file.
Facility is requesting to share the preschool play yard with toddlers. Licensee understands that the preschool and toddler aged children cannot use the play yard at the same time; a schedule outlining specific outdoor times is in place. Additionally, children under the age of 2 years old will not use the preschool play equipment as it is certified for 2 to 5 year old children; in lieu of using the play structure, staff will bring out age appropriate play equipment daily for toddlers to use. |
