On July 13, 2022 at approximately 1:50 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Josiah Gathing met with Director Jasbir Gill for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. LPA observed care and supervision of 18 children with two staff in the preschool area. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

LPA toured the indoor classroom areas, children’s restroom, staff restroom, kitchen, and outdoor play area. Medications were stored out of children’s reach according to regulation. Director stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. Restrooms are in sanitary condition with functioning toilets. The floors were clean throughout the facility.

LPA observed that solid waste containers were covered. Per Director, the facility provides meals for the children. Menus were posted and drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed a manual sign in and out sheet with parent’s full signatures.

At approximately 2:20 PM, all present staff files were reviewed. Staff transcripts were reviewed, and staff were fully qualified teachers. LPA observed current Mandated Reporter certificate expiring 3/27/2024 and proof of immunization in staff files. LPA observed current CPR and First Aid certificates for the Director and teacher expiring 09/11/2023 .

LPA observed the sample of children’s files contained the appropriate documents. LPA observed a current children’s roster and fire drill log last updated 06/27/2022. The facility is equipped with First Aid equipment, functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and a full 2A10BC fire extinguisher.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Facility Representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Director was encouraged to the visit the Department's website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for information regarding child care updates, PINs, forms, regulations and legislation pertaining to child care centers.

No deficiencies were cited based on today’s inspection. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the Facility Representative. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
