At 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27th, 2020, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Karyn Guerra met with Lead Teacher, Amy Davis, for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Classroom #1 is a wrap program operating from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Classroom #2 is a Head Start class operating from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. Classroom #3 is a state preschool and special education program operating from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Lead Teacher guided LPA on a tour of the facility, at which time a total census of 38 preschool children supervised by 8 staff was observed.

A health and safety inspection was conducted in the classrooms, restrooms, food service areas, and outdoor play areas. LPA observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menus, and daily schedule. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Medications are stored, inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. Bins for solid waste have tight fitting lids. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. Wrap program in Classroom #1 provides Breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon snacks. Head Start program in Classroom #2 provides, breakfast, a.m. snack, lunch, and p.m. snack. Classroom #3 provides breakfast for morning program, and lunch for the afternoon program.

There are functional water fountains indoors and outdoors. LPA observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. LPA observed wood chip cushioning beneath the play structure. LPA advised that wood chips should be moved to cushion beneath the spiral slide, as the black tarp lining was partially exposed. Outdoor shade was provided by trees and canopies. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises. LPA observed a Carbon monoxide detector in room #3.

At 11:20 a.m., LPA reviewed children's records. Each child's file contained an emergency card and a health history. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. Criminal record clearances and health screenings are located at the District Office. LPA reviewed staff files for classrooms #2 and #3 and observed immunization records, AB 1207 Mandated Reporter training certificates, and documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience. Lead Teacher for classroom #1 stated that staff files were not located in the classroom.

LPA verified the annual fees are current. LPA provided and discussed the Proposed Safe Sleep and the Effects of Lead Exposure brochures.

This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with the Lead Teacher. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and shall remain posted for a period of 30 days for parental review. An exit interview was conducted.

In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed at the time of the inspection.
