Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gagandeep Singh met with Director, Marissa Parker, for an unannounced annual inspection. Purpose of the inspection was explained. Present, there are nine children in care with five staff and the director. Facility is operating with in the capacity and in compliance with staff child ratio on this day. Facility operate day care from Monday to Friday between 6:45 AM to 6 PM.

With director, LPA inspected the day care classroom, napping room and the play yard. Facility has smoke detector, smoke detector, fully charged fire extinguisher and working telephone at the site. All of the cleaning solutions and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Facility has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. Facility has sufficient amount of cribs. Facility floor is in good repair and free of any hazards. All toilets, hand washing facilities are in working condition with proper sanitation in place. All storage containers for solid waste and in good repair and have proper lid on top. Facility has drinking water available for children. Facility has refrigerator in the classroom to store the milk bottles or food for the children in care. LPA observed all bottles are color coded and labeled with the dates. The bottle warmer is placed on the counter next to the wall and is inaccessible for the children. Play yard is free of hazards. All of the play structures are steady, in good repair and free of any loose parts. There is sufficient amount of wood chips under the play structures to prevent any fall injuries. There is plenty of shaded area in the play yard for the children.

LPA reviewed the facility records. LPA observed facility has license and other required documents posted and are visible for the public. There are menus posted for whole month in advance and are visible to the child's authorized representative. LPA observed that facility is using electronic sign in / out procedures. Facility has well maintained roster available on site.

LPA reviewed all present children's and staff's files. LPA observed facility has record of names, addresses and telephone numbers of each child's authorized representative. Each child's record contain record of child’s immunization, infant needs and service plan and individual sleeping plan. LPA observed facility has staff members with valid CPR training certificate in file. LPA reviewed the educational qualification of all the teachers. The facility has log for fire/emergency drills. Per log, last drill was conducted on July 27, 2021.

Director is aware that a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles. LPA observed the immunization record of all staff present on file.

LPA review AB 1207 with the director. As of January 1, 2018 all staff is required to complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com. During record review, LPA found two staff members have expired training certificate in June 2021 and need to be renewed.

LPA encourages the director to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and new updates. Licensee can also email at childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov and ask to be added to the email list for the updates.

See next page for deficiencies are cited today. The copy of this report is reviewed and provided to the director. Notice of site visit is posted and shall remain posted for next 30 days.

and shall complete renewal mandated reporter training every two years following the date on which he or she completed the initial mandated reporter training. This requirement is not met as evidenced by record review, LPA observed two staff members have the training certificate expired in June 2021. This poses a potential Health and Safety risk to children in care.
