25 | On, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 11:10 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tanya Washington met with Facility Representative (FR), Brittnay Garrett for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed six children supervised by three staff in classroom #3. FR stated that both classrooms #3 and #10 operate Monday-Friday. Classroom #3 operates a full day program from 7 AM to 5 PM and classroom #10 is a part day program which operates from 8 AM to 11 AM and 12 PM to 3 PM. Classroom #2 is currently used by the elementary school children. At around 11:30 AM, District Office Site Supervisor (DO), Reem Zidan arrived to the facility to assist LPA.
LPA toured all classroom spaces, restroom, and outdoor play area. LPA observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Earthquake Preparedness, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menu, and seat belt law. Cleaning disinfectants, medications and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Facility Representative stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The program provides breakfast, lunch, and supper for full day program and breakfast and lunch for part day program . Food is prepared on the school campus.
LPA observed trash bins with tight fitted lids. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. FR stated , facility provides labeled water bottles for children while they play outside and the bottles are cleaned daily by staff. Facility utilizes electronic sign in and out system called Learning Geanie. Facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months; last fire drill was conducted May, 2023. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. There is sufficient equipment and toys, and there are shaded areas supplied by shade structures.
The playground is shared with the elementary school children, there is a waiver on file and a schedule that is being followed for use.
Three staff and five children's records were reviewed. Both children and staff files were observed to be complete. There is at least one staff member present with a current CPR certificate. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.
