25 | On Wednesday August 30th, 2023 at 9:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tanya Washington and Application Specialist (AL) Alecia Sufientes met with Facility Representative Leslie Mitchem for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection. Licensing staff observed 15 children supervised by 3 staff. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This facility follows Twin Rivers school year calendar.
Licensing staff toured all classroom spaces, restroom, and outdoor play area. Licensing staff observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Earthquake Preparedness, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menu, and seat belt law. Cleaning disinfectants, medications and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Facility Representative stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The program provides breakfast, lunch, and PM snack. Food is prepared on the school campus and delivered to the classroom daily.
LPA observed trash bins with tight fitted lids. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Facility Representative stated that children have access to a water fountain outside and for those who are unable to reach the fountain, staff bring out a cooler with water and single use cups. Facility utilizes electronic sign in and out system called Learning Geanie. Facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months; last fire drill was conducted 08/29/2023. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. There is sufficient equipment and toys, and there are shaded areas supplied by shade structures. LPA observed proper storage of napping cots and bedding. Facility Representative stated that the bedding is cleaned weekly.
Three staff and four children's records were reviewed. Both children and staff files were observed to be complete. There is at least one staff member present with a current CPR certificate. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.
