25 | On September 15, 2022 at 12:20PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Mandie Goodwin and Jeremey McClain met with representative Lisa Tang for an unannounced required annual random inspection. LPAs observed care and supervision of 20 preschool children by 3 staff.
LPAs inspected all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. Hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in operable and safe condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts, and adequate cushioning was observed in areas underneath climbing equipment. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The facility is operating with a waiver to utilize the restroom in Room K-2, which is used by public elementary children. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers in each classroom. Children in care require medications and have forms on file. LPAs observed functional carbon monoxide detector.
Lunch and snack are provided by the facility. LPAs observed posted menus showing planned meals at least one week in advance. Non-contaminated Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPAs informed the Site Supervisor about Assembly Bill 2370, which will require certain licensed Child Care Facilities to test their water for excessive amounts of lead. See PIN 21-21-CCP about testing. Testing will be required beginning January 1, 2020.
LPAs observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet.
LPAs reviewed records for all present staff. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification which expires December, 2023. All staff currently employed with the facility have: a criminal record clearance, a health screening report, immunization records, current AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training, and documentation of their educational background, training, and/or experience.
