25 | On Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 8:30 am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Amanda Sutter and Fabiola Diaz met with Lead Teacher Mai Vang, Director Megan Simmons, and TOSA Lena Saunders for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection. LPAs observed 40 children supervised by 10 staff and 2 volunteers. Facility operates in classrooms 34, 35, 36, and 37. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM in classrooms 34 and 35, and 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM in classrooms 36 and 37.
LPAs toured classroom space, restroom, and outdoor play area. LPAs observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menu, fire drill log, seat belt law, and facility sketch. Cleaning disinfectants, medications and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. The program provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food is prepared on the school campus.
LPAs observed trash bins with tight fitted lids. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Director stated that children bring their own water bottles and are refilled at the facility. LPAs observed the facility’s electronic sign in and out system. Facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months; last fire drill was conducted in May 9, 2022. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts and bark is present under the equipment to provide sufficient cushioning. There are sufficient equipment and toys, and there are shaded areas supplied by shade structure. Children take their water bottles outside.
Nine staff and twelve children's records were reviewed. Both children and staff files were observed to be complete. There is at least one staff member present with a current CPR certificate. LPAs observed a functional carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector and fire extinguisher.
