NARRATIVE
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25	Application Specialist (AS) Seychelle De Luca and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra met with Director Leah Quackenbush for the purpose of an announced case management tele-inspection (due to COVID-19). Licensee requests to add the kindergarten classroom to the preschool license and adjust the ages on the license to provide care for ages two years to entry into first grade. Director is not making any changes to the capacity. The facility's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM for preschool children and 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for kindergarten children. AS received the fire clearance on 9/3/2020. A virtual health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to preschool children. There are two preschool classrooms: Multipurpose Room and Kindergarten classroom. AS used measurements of the multipurpose room from the 11/29/2010 report. Director measured the kindergarten classroom; and AS walked her through the measuring process. The total classroom space contains a total of 2633 square feet, which will accommodate the current capacity of 30 preschool children. There are four toilets and four sinks available to children, and a separate staff restroom is available. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. AS and LPA observed sufficient amount of furniture, toys, cubbies, and play equipment in the classrooms. AS and LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector in each classroom. AS and LPA observed disinfectants are inaccessible and appropriately stored. AS and LPA observed an electronic sign-in/sign-out system. Report continues on 809-C.

There is one outdoor area on the property. The outdoor play area is fenced with a chain link fence that is at least four feet tall. AS and LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys. The safety label on the climbing structure reads this is intended for ages 5-12 years old. Director understands the climbing structure may be used by children 5-12 only. There are no bodies of water on the premises. There are shaded areas supplied by canopies.

AS and LPA used the preschool yard measurements from the report dated 11/29/2010. The outdoor preschool yard contains a total of 3266 square feet, which accommodate Director's current capacity of 30 preschool children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024).

Director was encouraged to visit the Department website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for child care updates, current forms, legislation and regulation information. A copy of this report will remain on file for a period of three years for public review upon request.

An exit interview was conducted and in the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed at the time of the inspection. This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with Director. AS emailed a copy of the 809 to Director. Director understands she must read the reports and send back an acknowledgement that she read and received the report. AS also emailed LIC311A, Effects of Lead Exposure brochure, and immunization card.

Effective today, AS is approving the request to add the kindergarten classroom and adjust the ages on the preschool license.
