25 | Application Specialist (AS) Mai Lor and Licensing Program Analyst Jan Hoshida met with Licensee Vanessa Silva for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection and an announced capacity increase case management inspection. Licensee requests to increase the preschool capacity from 40 to 64 of the preschool children ages two to entry into Kindergarten. Census included 21 preschool children and three staff. The facility's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. AS Lor received the fire clearance on 8/17/21.
AS and LPA conducted a health and safety inspection in all areas accessible to preschool children. There are four existing preschool classrooms: Joy, Faith, Promise, and Hope. The Applicant is adding two additional preschool classrooms: Classroom #2 and #3. AS Lor used measurements from the 10/06/2015 report. The total classroom space contains a total of 2146.249 square feet, which will not accommodate the requested capacity of 64 preschool children. There are seven toilets and seven sinks available to children, and a separate staff restroom is available. However, one of the seven toilets are not operable. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary.
AS and LPA observed sufficient number of furniture, toys, mats, cubbies, and play equipment in the classrooms. AS and LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector on the currently licensed section of the facility. AS requested the facility to purchase an additional carbon monoxide detector for the additional classrooms due to the classrooms being separate from the existing classrooms. AS and LPA observed disinfectants and medications are inaccessible and appropriately stored. AS and LPA observed a electronic sign-in/sign-out system.
