25 | On Monday, May 20, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amanda Sutter met with Site Supervisor Barbara Atkinson for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection. LPA observed 43 preschoolers supervised by 7 staff and 9 toddlers supervised by 3 staff. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
LPA toured classroom spaces, restrooms, kitchen, outdoor play area. LPA observed the following documents are posted: License, Parents' Rights Poster, Child Personal Rights, Seat Belt Law, Menu, Earthquake Preparedness Checklist, Designation of Facility Responsibility, and Emergency Disaster Plan. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Site Supervisor stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack.
LPA observed trash bins with tight fitted lids. The facility uses electronic sign in and out system. Facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months. The last fire drill was conducted on February 29, 2024. LPA observed bark and rubber mats under playground equipment, which provides sufficient cushioning. LPA observed a hole in the outdoor playhouse which had been covered by a heavy mat. Site Supervisor stated that a work order had been submitted to remove the playhouse, and Program Supervisor Betsy Uda confirmed that the playhouse would be removed the following day. There are sufficient equipment and toys, and shaded areas are supplied by trees and shade cloth. Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Director stated that children use drinking fountains but are also provided cups filled in the sink.
