25 | On 12/10/20 at 1:00pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jan Hoshida, conducted a case management visit via Zoom, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with Sue Arriaga, Preschool/School Age Care Director & Superintendent of Schools. The purpose of this inspection was to provide technical assistance and ensure the facility is safe for the care and supervision of the children. Due to COVID-19 State of Emergency, a Licensed Child Care Program Waiver was granted on 9/21/20 to temporarily care for 36 additional school-age children in unlicensed private school classrooms of Calvary Christian School located at 4911 47th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95824. With this waiver, the facility has been approved for the total temporary capacity is 56 school age children. A letter from the Calvary Christian School principal confirmed fire clearance for the facility. This program operates from Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 6:00pm. During the tele-inspection, there were 21 school age children with 4 staff.
LPA virtually toured the facility with Director. The waiver was approved to operate in unlicensed private school classrooms (#4, #7 and #8). The licensed school-age program operates in room #1. LPA observed age-appropriate furniture including tables and chairs in the classrooms to meet the needs of children in care. The majority of the day is dedicated to the children's distance learning and each child has their own table to be able to do their schoolwork which is socially distanced from the other children and staff. Children are placed in pods up to 12 children with 1-2 staff members. There is a sufficient amount of separate private bathrooms that are reserved for the school-age children. In addition, LPA toured the existing shared outdoor playground area. LPA observed an area at the entrance designated for sign in/out, temperature/health checks and COVID-19 information. Public health documents/posters and the waiver were seen throughout the facility. The facility provides an afternoon snack, breakfast and lunch. Children bring their own water bottles which can be refilled within the center.
