25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jan Hoshida, conducted an unannounced random annual inspection today. Lead Teacher, Robin Ross, was present upon LPA’s arrival. Director, Jacqueline Wyse, arrived at the center later. A tour of the facility was conducted inside and outside in Room 21. The following areas are in compliance during the visit. There are no bodies of water. Firearms and ammunition are not on the premises. Storage for poisons are locked. Disinfectants, hazardous items and medications are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are sufficient, age appropriate and in good repair. Fire drills are conducted and documented. Carbon Monoxide detectors were present. The playground equipment and outdoor activity space is maintained and in good condition. Wood chips are being used as cushioning around the climbing equipment and level is sufficient to absorb a fall. Children's toilets, hand washing facilities are sanitary. Floors are clean and free of debris. Food preparation area is clean, food is protected from contamination, storage containers for solid waste are covered and all food or beverages are stored in covered containers and labeled. Drinking water is available both indoors and outside. Menus are posted. The facility is in compliance with conditions and limitations specified on the license. Sign in/sign out sheets are maintained. First Aid/CPR reviewed and in compliance. All staff present had evidence of current criminal background clearances and/or associations through the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. Emergency information reviewed for some children. Upon arrival, there were 16 children with three staff members and one volunteer.
Upon review of the staff files, LPA observed that five out of the six staff files did not have the necessary licensing documents (health screening, statement acknowledging abuse, employee rights and criminal record statement). This poses a potential risk to the health and safety to the children in care. Director stated that the facility is utilizing a new online HR portal for staff records and files to maintain confidentiality and will work with the HR Director to maintain licensing compliance with their staffing files.
