25 | On Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAS) Amanda Sutter and Amanda Blesi met with Licensee, Rebecca Barnett, for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. The licensee’s adult daughter, who is her assistant, was also present during the inspection. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. LPAs observed 12 children in the facility, including the licensee’s minor grandchild who lives in the home. LPAs observed proper ratio and capacity was being followed. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limit areas include: upstairs and garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPAS observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair with proper ventilation. LPAS observed a functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a full 2A10BC fire extinguisher. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. The licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. The backyard is fenced and no bodies of water were observed. Hazardous items were observed in the cabinets under both the kitchen and bathroom sink. Licensee moved items from under the bathroom sink and stated that she would replace the broken lock on the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Licensee stated that there is one infants in her care. Infant Sleeping Plans were not observed and 15-minute sleep logs were not being maintained.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
