25 | On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amanda Sutter met with Licensee, Lesya Chorney, for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Upon arrival, LPA observed licensee supervising 7 children. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limit areas include: master bedroom and garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPA observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector and a full fire extinguisher that meets regulation. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. The licensee stated there are no weapons or poisons in the home. LPA observed a fireplace to be barricaded according to regulation. The backyard is fenced.
LPA reviewed three children’s files which were observed to be complete. Required postings were observed. The facility has a list of children currently enrolled but the children’s roster is not complete. The facility does not have record of conducting fire drills at least every 6 months. The last fire drill was conducted 12/2020. Licensee’s CPR/First Aid card expires 3/4/2025. Licensee is exempt from mandated reporter training due to language barrier. Licensee understands that trainings must be completed every two years.
LPA verified that the annual fees are current. LPAs provided the Child Care Advocates Program email address: childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov, so the licensee can request to be added to the distribution list to receive Quarterly Updates.
