25 | At 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Karyn Guerra and Amanda Sutter, met with Director, Gloria Rowe-Johnson, for the purpose of an unannounced, required - 1 year inspection. Facility hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
A census was conducted at 10:45 a.m. LPAs observed 36 children outside on the play yard supervised by 3 staff. 5 of the children (C1, C2, C3, C4, and C5) outside on the play yard were transitioned from the 1's classroom and commingled with preschool children as part of their classroom transition period and were under 2 years old. LPA observed a sign on the 1's classroom door stating that their official start date in the 2's classroom would be on June 5th. It was stated that children have a two week transition period for two weeks before starting in the classroom. Infant children were later observed back in their classrooms for lunch and nap time.
All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained criminal record clearance. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in the classrooms, restrooms, food service areas, and outdoor play areas. LPA observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menus, and daily schedule. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Medications are stored, inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition.
