25 | On Thursday, 3 October, 2024, at approximately 9:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fabian Schwartz met with Licensee, Serita McKeever, for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed licensee supervising 7 children which were a mix of school aged-homeschooled children and preschool children. Also present were 3 of Licensee’s children which are over 14 but under 18 who are acting as assistants. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. LPA observed proper ratio and capacity was being followed. Facility hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6:00am-6:00pm. LPA verified that the annual fees are not current with a current annual fee of $350 due.
A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Facility is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom two story home. Facility has a fireplace which is appropriately barricaded. Off-limit areas include: Entire Upstairs, Laundry Room, and Garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPA observed that the facility is clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. LPA observed a functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a full 2A10BC fire extinguisher. The facility has adequate toys that appear to be safe for children to use. The licensee stated there are no weapons or poisons in the home. LPA observed that there is a fenced backyard with an above ground pool. Fence around pool is at least 5 foot high and has a self-closing, self-latching gate which is unlocked.
LPA reviewed 3 children’s files which were observed to be complete. Required postings were seen to left of front door, and the children’s roster was observed. The facility has record of conducting fire drills at least every 6 months. Licensee’s CPR/First Aid card expired on 9 July 24. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter certificate expired 14 July 2023. Licensee understands that trainings must be completed every two years.
