13 | On June 3, 2022 at 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Josiah Gathing and Karyn Guerra, met with Licensee Sara Matte for the purpose of an unannounced complaint investigation. It was alleged that the licensee inappropriately disciplines day care children. The reason for the investigation was explained upon arrival. During the investigation LPAs interviewed Licensee, Staff, and Parents, made observations, and reviewed records. Through interview with licensee, LPAs learned that the typical discipline policy for the facility involves discussion, redirection, and facilitating communication between children. Licensee stated she does not use timeout. Per handbook contract, redirection is the main disciplanary practice. Interviews with staff confirmed the same disciplinary practices. Interviews with parents did not reveal any concerns regarding discipline practices.
Although the alleged violations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to fully prove or disprove that the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore it is UNSUBSTANTIATED. An exit interview was conducted in which the report was reviewed and discussed with the Licensee. A notice of site visit was provided and shall remain posted for 30 days. No regulatory violations were cited during today's inspection. |
