25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Alize Tillery and Mai Lor met with Director Yesenia Gutierrez and Administrator Linda Ramos for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Upon arrival, LPA observed 10 awake infant children, supervised by 3 staff members; and 5 toddler children supervised by 2 staff members. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Program has requested to increase the size of the napping area, in the infant room, to make room for a total of 16 cribs. LPAs measured the infant room, active space; it now measures at a square footage of 1035.042. This accommodates a total of 29 infant children, with a maximum of 16 infants under the age of 12 months due to available cribs. LPAs toured all activity and classroom spaces (Infant Room and Toddler Room), the kitchen area, the napping areas and the outdoor play areas. Program uses a tablet to document the infants sleeping, every 15 minutes. LPAs recommended staff add an area for comments to be documented. LPAs observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menus, and daily schedule. Cleaning disinfectants, hazardous items, and medications are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary and operating condition. LPA observed three changing tables in arms reach of a sink. LPA observed infant food and bottles labeled in the refrigerator. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter, all food was protected against contamination, and storage containers with solid waste have covers.
Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed a water pitcher and children’s personal sippy cups. LPAs observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. There is rubber cushion beneath the playground equipment in the outdoor play area. There are sufficient equipment and toys. There are shaded areas supplied by trees and the building.
