On June 2, 2022 at 8:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Alize Tillery met with licensee for the purpose of an annual required 1 year inspection. The facility’s days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:15 AM to 5:30 PM. LPA observed care and supervision of 6 children supervised by the Licensee. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Licensee does not offer transportation services.

A health and safety evaluation was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off limit areas consist of: 2 bedrooms, both garages and the back half of the backyard. LPA recommended that the outdoor toys and equipment be wiped down.

LPA observed a 2A10BC fire extinguisher, first aid kit and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Per licensee, there are no weapons in the home. No children were observed in parked cars. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children, and safe toys were observed. Licensee stated that she plans on doing a deep clean of the rugs in the children’s play area.

LPA reviewed children’s files for the 6 present children, files were observed to be complete. LPA observed Licensee’s license, emergency disaster plan and parent’s rights form. LPA requested that Licensee post these documents so they are visible to parents. Licensee has record of conducting fire drills at least every six months. Per record, last drill was conducted on 05/11/2022. LPA discussed current COVID19 guidelines. LPA observed licensee’s CPR and First Aid card which expires 01/03/2023. Licensee’s and all other adult files were reviewed. LPA reviewed the Entrance Checklist with Licensee, Licensee understands what is to be maintained in adult files.

LPA discussed the requirement of renewing mandated reporter training every 2 years. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter Training is current and expires in 02/03/2024.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensee, Catalina Alvarado.
