Children are inspected (wellness check) for illnesses as they arrive. A review of medication policy indicated that over the counter medication or prescription medication (current date) is administered only with parent's written permission. The Director or Lead Teacher administers medication and documents the dosage, date and time onto a log (LPA observed log). Medication is brought and taken home by the parent daily (prescription medication) as necessary. Medication is properly labeled and stored in its original container. There is a separate area for isolation and care of ill children in the director office area. Currently there is one child requiring IMS (incidental medical services). During the inspection LPA verified facility meets the requirements for providing IMS services by reviewing the following: storage of medication and equipment/supplies, checking records of individual children, interviewing and checking staff records for written verification of training, at least one trained staff member is available to provide IMS service.
The facility has 1 playground area. There is a separate play area for the Elementary School. Outdoor play equipment was inspected for health, safety, good repair and age appropriateness. There is sand and concrete area for active play. The area was observed to be free of debris, sand is swept daily throughout the day, outside tables are sanitized daily. There is an area for shade and rest. Drinking water in a pitcher-Igloo and Dixie cups are available and a water fountain. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. Outside play area is completely fenced. |
