25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Laura Mejorado arrived at the facility, for the purpose of conducting a case management follow-up visit; regarding an unusual incident report that was submitted by the facility. LPA met with Director Luz Gonzalez, toured the facility and discussed the reported incident.
On 1/19/23 upon arrival staff noticed water flooding around building #3. Water entered into three of the four classrooms in building #3 and the playground. At this point staff shut off the water and notified parent to come pick up their children. The facility was already scheduled to be closed 1/20/23 for a staff development days. Facility staff called a plumber and decided to close building #3 until the repairs were completed and offered distance learning in the mean time. On 1/28/23 the water leak was resolved however after testing the classrooms for moisture, classroom #61 tested positive for moisture. As a result three dehumidifiers were placed in classroom #61 to resolve the issue. Classroom #61 continued to be closed until it no longer tested positive for moisture on 2/2/23. At this point the facility was still undergoing outside repairs to the concrete foundation that had to broken up to access the water leak. On 1/30/23 the majority of children returned with the exception of classroom #61 which returned on 2/6/23.
Based on the information obtained and LPA observations made during the visit, there appeared to be no violation of Title 22 Regulations pertaining to the reported incident, at this time.
An exit interview was held with Director Luz Gonzalez. A Notice of Site visit was issued, along with a copy of this report. |
