32 | First Aid supplies, smoke detector, carbon monoxide and fire extinguishers were observed and in operable condition. The fire extinguisher (2A10BC) was fully charged. Trash cans with tight lids were observed. The kitchen has an industrial sink, stove, refrigerator, and freezer, however the center only uses a section of the refrigerator and snack pantry. Menu is posted, dated, and accessible for parent’s review. Allergies are posted in each classroom and kitchen. LPA observed bottles labeled with each Infants name as required. This center is part of a Federally Funded Food Program, and they provide all meals and snacks.
Smoking is prohibited on the premises of a child care center; Earthquake safety and necessity of drills are to be conducted every 6 months and logged; Required forms for children’s files, facility files, staff files, and posting requirements; Fingerprint clearances and the transfer process.
Children are inspected (wellness check) for illness as they arrive. A review of medication policy indicated that over the counter medication or prescription medication (current date) is administered only with parents written permission. If a child is ill with fever they will be kept in the Director's office.
Outdoor play equipment was inspected for health, safety, good repair and age appropriateness. LPA observed rubber matting on the play yard. Staff inspect outside play area prior to children entering the play area. There is a swing set on the play yard that was securely anchored into the ground. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. Outside area is completely fenced. The infant play area is separated from the preschool area by a fence/gate. |
