25 | On 8.10.23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz met with the Licensee, Diana Ruston for an unannounced annual/random inspection. The licensee gave the LPA access to the home and guided a tour of the childcare area. People who reside in the home are the licensee, her spouse, her 2 adult daughters, and her minor child (12). Three of the four adults have fingerprint clearance. Licensees’ other adult daughter turned 18 on 8.1.23 and is in process of applying for fingerprint clearance. The licensee has the required immunizations against pertussis (TDAP), measles (MMR) and a flu declination is on file. At the time of the visit LPA observed 3 children in care (all under 24 mos). LPA reminded licensee that 100% supervision required at all times when children in care. Per the licensee, the large family childcare home (FCCH) operates 24 hours. LPA reminded licensee that staff should be awake when children are awake. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) were discussed. Per the licensee, she does not have childcare children who need IMS currently.
This is a two story 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom home with kitchen, living room, garage, and addition to the home that is used for childcare. All childcare activities are conducted in the additional area of the home that includes a restroom that the children have access to. The garage is used for storage and laundry only and no childcare activities are conducted there. Children have access to the backyard from the childcare area. The entire home is off-limits to the children and made inaccessible with double doors that have hook lock. There is no pool, spa or additional bodies of water on the premises. LPA discussed the large FCCH Single Action Door Handle Requirements and provided licensee with PIN 23-11-CCP.
The home was inspected inside and out for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, heating and ventilation, inaccessibility to poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds (kept in cabinet under sink and made inaccessible with large padlock, medicines (kept in off-limits area made inaccessible with double doors that lock with hook), and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children. |
