25 | LPA Luigi Gargaro visited the facility to conduct a comprehensive site inspection. Upon arrival LPA met with site supervisor Julie Arteaga. During today's visit, there were 20 children present being supervised by site supervisor Arteaga and teacher Cristian Benitez in room 901. The children were engaged in reading and play activities during the visit. The auditorium is also approved for overflow supervision for the program but was not in use during today's visit. Site Supervisor states that the program has not used the auditorium for an extended period of time and primarily uses room 901 for care. Supervisor stated that auditorium is now primarily used by the exempt Dash program. Analyst will contact program director to determine further use status of school auditorium for program. Room 901 is sufficiently equipped to meet child and program needs. Appropriate care & visual supervision were observed during the visit.
Furniture and age appropriate equipment is in good condition. Care area has adequate heating, lighting and ventilation. Children's bathrooms are located in main school building (in between the 300 and 400 and the 500 and 600 building areas), across the courtyard area (two separate boys and girls bathrooms). Bathrooms have doors that provide privacy. Staff shall ensure that children be escorted to/from the bathrooms. Paper towels and toilet paper are available in both restrooms. Bathrooms are lighted and have ventilation. Snack menu is posted and sufficient snacks are available for the children in care. Drinking fountains are available inside the classroom and outside the care areas. Cleaning supplies are stored in locked cabinet, inaccessible to children. Facility is open in the mornings from 6:00AM to 8:45AM and from 3:00PM to 6:30PM. A separate staff restroom is available. Isolation areas for ill children are typically open, available classroom corners on a mat until parent pick up. The playground is the gated blacktop area located immediately behind the classroom. Equipment is age appropriate. Children have access to facility water fountains for drinking water.
LPA reviewed sign in sheets and found them to be in compliance. Personnel records contain health screenings and children’s records contain emergency information and medical assessments. At least one staff member has current CPR and First Aid certifications. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Fire and disaster drills were last conducted on 11/13/19. |
