25 | On 7/28/2023, at 9:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Vicky Williamson conducted an unannounced annual required inspection. LPA met with Director, Deanne Romero and disclosed the purpose of the inspection. LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. The facility provides before and after school care, Monday - Friday. Facility has a summer program that operates, June - August from 6:30am - 6:00pm. The following ratios were observed: School Age Classroom had 7 children with one (1) teacher.
Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment is in safe condition. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. High-climbing equipment has sufficient cushioning. Toilet and hand-washing equipment are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. Kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter/rubbish and free of rodents. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other hazardous items are made inaccessible to children.
Director stated there are no bodies of water on the premises. LPA did not observe any bodies of water. Director stated there are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Facility provides breakfast, lunch and snack. Menus are posted weekly. Facility has functioning carbon and smoke detectors that meet statutory requirements. The last fire/disaster drill was conducted and documented on 6/16/2023.
A review of staff records on this date indicates facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center.
