25 | On 07/29/21 at 3:30pm, LPA Adrian Castellon completed an un-announced annual site inspection today. The purpose of the visit is to ensure the facility is maintaining the health and safety standards as required by Community Care Licensing (CCL) Regulations governing Child Care Centers. LPA Castellon met with Director Breanna Castro, a total of 20 children were present during the inspection. LPA Castellon observed children being properly supervised in outdoor play areas, with proper number of staff to meet capacity ratios. This School Age Program currently operates at Discovery Elementary School in the following rooms: The Auditorium and classrooms 305 and 302.
LPA toured the facility and reviewed sign in and out sheets, menus, rest room areas, classroom and equipment to ensure compliance with CCL Regulations. Children’s records (digital) were reviewed, proper forms were in order, facility roster was up to date. Emergency exit drills requirement was discussed. Per tour of the classrooms and auditorium, LPA observed a variety of age-appropriate equipment available for children’s use. Storage areas were verified to be properly locked and inaccessible, waste baskets were properly covered and drinking water was available for children in classrooms and outdoor play areas. Outside playground areas were toured and verified to be properly fenced, with proper shade available for children. There were operational Type II 10ABC fire extinguishers and working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in the facility, CPR, First Aid and Mandated Reporter certificates were verified to be up to date for all staff. A review of staff records indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
