25 | Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director Carla Martinez, for the purpose of an unannounced random annual inspection. There were 96 children present with 14 teachers in 7 classrooms follows: Room 1 (3's): 16 children with a teacher and an aide with units; Room 2 (3's): 12 children with two teachers; Room 3 (2.5-3's): 11 children with two teachers; Room 4 (M/W/F PreK-4s): 14 children with two teachers; Room 5 (M/W/F PreK-4s): 16 children with two teachers; Room 6 (PreK-4s): 22 children with two teachers; and Room 8 (PreK-4s): 19 children with two teachers. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with lunch at 12:30 and rest/nap time from 1 to approximately 2:30 p.m.
LPA toured the rooms, The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. Morning snack is provided and children bring their own lunches. Food is stored in a room off the office containing a refrigerator. Food is stored safety. Snack menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications are kept in the office, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play areas are fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. No hazards were noted. There is an operational water fountain outdoors. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. The last emergency drill was conducted on 5/22/19. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and a sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. Several staff present have current CPR and First Aid certification with Heartsaver, valid thru 8/19. Isolation area is the Director's office. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Effects of Lead Exposure Handout was provided for dissemination to the parents of current and future enrollees. |
