25 | Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit, there were 21 children with four staff and Ms. Tordecillas as follows: Classroom 1 (4-5s): 8 children with teacher Janet DeLaCruz; Classroom 2(3-4s): 8 children with teacher Alicia Solano; and the Toddler Option room: 5 children with teacher Griselda Vasquez and Aide Patricia Zarate. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
LPA toured the facility. The furniture, toys, books, games and play equipment, both inside and out, are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. All rooms have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation, are clean and orderly, and are free of hazards. Medications are centrally stored in the office, inaccessible to children. Bathrooms and handwashing areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. The facility provides a.m. and p.m. snack and children bring their own lunches. Food service area consists of a satellite kitchen which is clean and sanitary with food stored per regulation. No expired food items were noted. Snack menus were posted and are being stored for a minimum of 30 days. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced and has sufficient cushioning under and around play structures, swings and slides. There is a waiver on file to share playground space with the Toddler Option, staggering the times to ensure there is no commingling. The Toddler Option children do not use the large play structure. There is a water dispenser outdoors. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational, located in Classroom 2. Several staff present have a current CPR and First Aid certification w/ A-B-Cpr, expiring 4/2020. A sample of children's records were reviewed, Electronic sign in/out is used. The number of sign ins matched the number of children present. There is paper back up should the system malfunction. LPA observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Effects of Lead Exposure Handout was provided for dissemination to the parents/guardians of current and future enrollees. |
