THIS IN AN AMENDED VERSION OF AN ORIGINAL REPORT
On October 7, 2020 at 1:30 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joelle Redding, conducted a virtual inspection with the facility representative Debra Sheehan. The purpose of this inspection is to provide technical assistance and ensure the facility is safe for the care and supervision of children in relation to a recently approved temporary waiver for the facility to care for school age children in their preschool program due to COVID-19.

The facility will operate Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and serves children ages 2 thru kindergarten with a request to serve 30 school age children, in elementary school Room 1 (Pod B) and Room 3 (Pod A) and Room 9 (Pod C). The fire clearance was granted for up to 30 school age children on 10/1/2020. Check-in for Pod A and B will be at the side entrance and check in for Pod C will be at the back entrance. The preschool children check in at the front. If a child becomes ill during the day, he/she will rest in the isolation area which would be a separate area of the classroom, appropriately distanced from the other children. Children’s authorized representative will be contacted immediately for pick up. Department of Public Health will be contacted in regards any COVID-19 illness. Children will stay with the same group as assigned and will not be moved from one group to the other. Age appropriate furniture including tables and chairs and are present in each of the rooms to meet the needs of children in care and promote social distancing during distance learning and other activities. The elementary playground will be used as the elementary children will not present when this waiver is in use. All equipment is age appropriate and Pods (groups/cohorts) will be staggered.

Lunches, snacks and water bottles will be brought from home. Snacks are served by staff using gloves and masks. Children bring their own water bottles. The facility will maintain children files that include emergency authorization cards and staff files that include proof of criminal background clearance. All childcare areas, including the playgrounds, will be cleaned and sanitized daily or more often when necessary following the facility’s cleaning and sanitation policies and guidelines.

Director/Licensee will contact the Regional Office to notify of the opening date once the waiver is granted. Health check on staff and children will be conducted each day upon staff and children’s arrival. Director/Licensee will ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of the Temporary Waiver and will adhere to Public Health guidelines and directives. To further ensure the health and safety of the children in care, Community Care Licensing will provide on-going Technical Assistance (TA) to the facility. Facility will be notified when the waiver is granted and can begin operation at that time.

The fire clearance will be resubmitted to correct the error and allow Room 9 (Pod C) as part of the request. It was mistakenly omitted in the request. An amended waiver request will be submitted to Program once the amended fire clearance is received. Currently, the facility is not using these rooms because elementary school is in session. If they return to distance learning, the required rooms will be used. Should that occur prior to receiving the amended fire clearance, only Rooms 1 and 3 may be used.

This report is being delivered via email. Facility's reply will serve as confirmation of receipt.
