25 | On 04/18/2024 at 11:01am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for a decrease in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director Mary Rolfes. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 72 preschoolers ages 2-year-old to entry of kindergarten in classrooms #1, #3 and #4. Hours of operation is Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 5:30pm. Present during today’s inspection were 65 children with 10 staff members in classrooms #4, #3, #1 and #2 (toddler option classroom). Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Director Mary Rolfes that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.
LPA continued to tour the facility and remeasured all the preschool classrooms #1, #3 and #4. Total indoor activity space measured to be 2455.70 square feet, which is only sufficient to accommodate 70 children. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via the sink water and all the children has their own water bottle. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 03/21/2024.
LPA observed a total of 12 sinks and 13 toilets available for children’s use. These are more than sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity.
The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Chain link fencing that is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space was previously measured to be 12926 square feet, which is more than sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Shade is provided via tree and gazebo at the Toddlers and 2's playground and the preschool playground. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. |
