A pre-licensing inspection was conducted by Nancy Diaz, LPA. Met with applicant Elisa Felix. Mrs. Felix has completed the Preventative Health training on 9/30/18. Her Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification are valid through September 28, 2020. Mrs. Felix and her spouse, Joel Lopez have received criminal record and TB clearances.

This three-bedroom; two- bathroom home was inspected to ensure that it meets the Health & Safety standards as required by regulations governing Family Child Care Homes. The following areas are used for day care: living room, family room, hallway bathroom, kitchen, bedroom #2 and back fenced yard. Off-limit areas include: Master bedroom & bathroom, Bedroom #1 and detached garage. Lower cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom are latched to make toxics, detergent and other items which could pose a danger if readily available to children inaccessible. There is an operational smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher maintained in the home. The home has electrical outlet covers throughout the daycare areas. There are toys, games, books and napping equipment for children's use. Mrs. Felix stated that she does not maintain any weapons in the home. There were no bodies of water observed within the premises. Applicant understands that children must be visually supervised at all times during any outdoor activities.

LPA provided handouts/reviewed the following: effects of lead exposure, Health & Nutrition information, SIDS, shaken baby syndrome, regulation highlights, capacity limitations, care & supervision, record keeping requirements (forms to be downloaded from website), required forms to be posted, disaster drills every 6 months (to be documented), unusual incident reporting requirement, safe sleep regulation, mandated reporting and Megan's law. Mrs. Felix is reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, walkers, exersaucers, jumpers and bouncy seats are not be permitted during day care hours. Applicant was also advised today that use of garage is not allowed unless it’s legally converted.
