25 | On 11/30/2021 at 3:40pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Selina Siao conducted a case management inspection for the purpose of capacity increase with the both licensee Rocio Varon and Tiffanie Varon. The 4 bedroom, 2 bath house was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. LPA conducted a tour of the day care areas including the living room (day care classroom area) and bathroom located at the hallway. Off limit areas includes the 4 bedrooms, master bathroom, dining room, kitchen, family room and garage. All off limit have door knob covers, latch or safety gate to prevent access. Facility uses the fenced backyard for outdoor activities. The fire extinguisher size 3A40BC, smoke and carbon monoxide detector meet requirements and are operational. Not all hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. Licensee stated that there are no bodies of water or weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee Rocio Varon and her husband are owners of the property. Facility obtained the required fire clearance on 11/15/2021. Both licensee's first aid and CPR certifications are current due to expire on 09/11/2023. Children's records were reviewed and are in ordered. Facility conducts fire and earthquake drills with the children monthly.
The following information was reviewed with the licensee: information on reporting requirements for suspected child abuse and unusual incidents, children’s records, immunizations, adults living or working in the home and related civil penalties, shaken baby syndrome, and SIDS. Licensee was reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, walkers, exersaucers, bouncy seats and jumpers are not allowed in day care. |
