On 8/27/21 at 9:15 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Keturah Lane and Patrick Ma conducted an unannounced case management visit to follow up on corrections for a capacity increase. Census at the facility was 6 children. At the previous visit on 8/18/21, LPAs Lane and Ma conducted a case management and stated that no corrections were needed. However, after viewing the photos of the outside activity area, it was determined that additional fencing was needed before an increase in capacity could be granted. There were two areas of concern in the yard. The first was an area at the top of the hill above the playset that was potentially a hazard if a child climbed up the hill, could have access to the street. Licensee installed a rod iron fence in that area, entrenched firmly in the ground and secured to the brick wall on the neighbor's side. Licensee obtained permission from the neighbor to help install the fence. The other area of concern was the exploration field that was not fully fenced and is next to a canyon, irrigation ditch and neighbor's back yard which has a swimming pool. Licensee installed a steel welded wire fence that is 5 feet high and attached with zip ties to the existing wooden picket fence. The welded wire is secured behind the picket fence with metal poles that are firmly entrenched into the ground. LPAs checked the entire perimeter and the yard is completely enclosed. The existing wooden fence coupled with the welded wire fence is secure and not climbable. Licensee stated that she will regularly check the fence and maintain it to ensure it is secure and not climbable. Licensee also stated that she will provide visual supervision when children are in the backyard and exploration field. Based upon LPAs observations of the fencing and Licensee's statements, a license for 14 may be issues upon final file review.
No deficiencies are cited. No further corrections are needed
An exit interview was conducted with the Licensee. The Licensee was provided a copy of their appeal rights (LIC 9058) along with the report (LIC809) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. The LIC 9213 (Notice of Site visit) was posted during today's visit. Notice of Site Visit must remain posted for 30 days.
