25 | On 1/31/22 at 7:55 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Keturah Lane conducted a follow-up pre-licensing inspection to approve corrections. Upon arrival, LPA Lane met with applicant Nerlande Alceus and toured the facility. Also present was applicant’s spouse who helped with translation. Applicant speaks Spanish.
Applicant sent pictures and video of corrections via e-mail to LPA Lane on 1/8/22 but further investigation was needed due to a space below the outdoor staircase and a cactus plant at the top of the hill. It was advised to conduct another physical inspection to check all corrections.
Corrections needed prior to issuance of license were:
1. Make off-limits areas inaccessible.
Applicant did this by installing door-knob covers on bedrooms #1, 2, 4, 5, bathroom #2 and hallway closet.
2. Complete backyard fencing so the upper yard is inaccessible to children. Applicant did this by extending the fencing on both sides of the succulent plants.
3. Make side rails of the stairs leading to the upper yard inaccessible to children. Applicant did this by extending the screening all the way down the railings on both sides.
4. LPA Lane inspected the space under the outdoor stairway and found the space was larger than 4.5 inches. At the inspection, applicant added two pieces of wood along the bottom of the stairs and secured it to the stairway (see pictures in file)
5. LPA Lane inspected the cactus plant at the top of the hill and found that the cactus plant is in the middle of several large non-sharp succulent plants and is not reachable even if the children get up the hill. Applicant stated that the children are not allowed up on the hill and will supervise outside play at all times to keep them from the hill.
All corrections have been completed. A license for 14 children may be granted upon final file review. Applicant agreed to comply with all regulations and laws governing family child-care homes. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the applicant, Nerlande Alceus. |
